Senior/Lead QA

You are an experienced QA Engineer who has worked as part of a mixed discipline team to deliver games, and you are ready to broaden your skillset. You are looking to get hands on in all aspects of QA and game development processes – from early prototypes to release builds.

We are looking for someone to establish a small internal test team for a major new game development, whilst also liaising with outsourced QA.

You must be keen, focused, and self-motivated to deliver a consistently high-quality QA service at scale.

You will be responsible for keeping up to date with advances in computer technology and console hardware, as well as the logistical and technical requirements for releasing games on various platforms (Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo, Steam, Epic Games etc).

  • Create, maintain, and execute test suites for each project at scale; including those for platform specific technical requirements
  • Work with the team to review all player facing and non-player facing features and development tools to ensure they are fit for purpose, identifying any UX edge cases
  • Ensure all in-game changes meet the required level of quality during development and company standards upon release
  • Report and maintain bug databases
  • Work with project leadership to effectively plan and manage the delivery of our games
  • Keep up to date with advances in technology, test optimisations and automations to ensure consistent level of quality for establishing and maintaining testing best practices
  • Identify, request, and maintain all test hardware and software
  • Coordinate testing efforts both internally and externally in alignment with project and resource requirements
  • Report test results to key stakeholders during development and the release phase for potential release candidates
  • Assist Production and Community Managers in monitoring the health of live games
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English language)
  • Strong data driven reporting skills to serve a variety of stakeholders at all phases of project development
  • Has overseen the development and release cycle of at least one successful project
  • Effective bug reporting skills
  • Logical problem-solving combined with the ability to work individually and with the development team to investigate, troubleshoot and identify complex issues
  • A passion for playing and making games
  • Agile development and best practices
  • Experience in identifying and establishing a way of working within a QA department
  • Reviewing and debugging network traffic
  • Benchmarking and reporting project performance
  • Shipping games on Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo, PC
  • Familiarity with Unreal Engine and/or Visual Studio
  • Scripting in Python
  • Test methods to ensure our games are resilient against external attacks or bad behaviour that may impact our players’ experience
